YiFei Dai Appointed as MD for IDC China

With ambitious plans for rapid growth, IDC China, the Chinese office of the long-established UK-based Industrial Design Consultancy (IDC) has appointed a new managing director, YiFei Dai.

The appointment comes as IDC China celebrates a growth curve coupled with achieving ISO 13485 and 9001 certification, making it a rarity amongst Chinese design consultancies, if not unique.

Since IDC opened its Shanghai office three years ago, the product development company has gone from strength to strength under the direction of Stephen Knowles, IDC's group MD, and Mike Pratt, IDC China's Technical Director.

Stephen Knowles explains, "IDC has truly established itself in China, supplying specialist support to both Western and Chinese companies. We have witnessed a boom in the Chinese medical market over the last few years, with more and more manufacturers calling on the company to develop high quality products. With further growth in mind, we are delighted that YiFei Dai has joined IDC to lead the team at such an important time."

Dai brings exceptional experience to the company, having operated her own company which specialised in research and consumer insight for Western companies looking to break into Asian markets. To add to this, Dai comes from a design and marketing background, and has worked in both China and the UK, so has an in depth understanding of the needs of both Western and Asian markets. This understanding of consumers, cultural and behavioural distinctions is central to IDC China's success, particularly in the medical sector.

Dai comments, "It's such an exciting time for IDC China. We have a heritage of quality and award-winning products that spans over 40 years - and this means a lot in China. We will continue this emphasis on quality, as Chinese manufacturers are now very aware of the benefits of product quality and brand value for global success."

Dai has ambitious plans for IDC China and believes it will only be two to three years before IDC China has grown to the size its UK counterpart.
