Working in a heavily patented market, IDC had to develop a unique rotary valve which gave Waterside new IP and a high performance solution.
Tool for Valve
Water softener manufacturer, Waterside, commissioned IDC to develop a new rotary valve for their products.
Previously Waterside had bought in valves, but were keen to develop their own solution, which formed an essential part of their water systems.
As there are already many patent-protected valves on the market, IDC's engineers first had to research patented valve technology, so the team could then develop a solution which avoided existing patents and presented a unique design.
IDC's industrial designers worked with the engineering team to ensure that the design was ergonomic and easy to assemble. IDC Models then produced SLA and vacuum cast models for evaluation.

From concept to production, IDC developed a product that gave Waterside new IP. The rotary valve was so successful that Waterside's original valve supplier offered to buy the new valve.
