IDC was challenged to design a mobile dosing management system for hazardous liquids. The resulting design took colorant recovery from 90% to 99% and reduced build costs by 40%. Appearance, usability and handling safety were also improved.
World leader in liquid additive technologies, ColorMatrix, has just launched a full dosing management system for liquids with properties that make handling difficult. These include liquids that are corrosive or toxic and those which are unpleasant to handle such as strong pigments and additives.
The Metrix™ system provides a mobile cart solution, which may be used for dosing applications in the food, chemical, pharmaceutical and plastics industries.

Prototype Testing
IDC designed the Metrix™ system to eliminate problems of leakage and liquid recovery. This ensures that all the liquid in the system is used with minimum wastage; a common problem with existing systems.
IDC also included a unique container attachment component that prevents air getting into the system, which results in a more robust product with flawless operation.
The dosing system itself takes 25 litre containers and has a dosing speed range of 0.021 to 3.5 ml/second. The Metrix™ system is suitable for continuous use; a capacity sensor alarm sounds when liquids are running low, enabling containers to be simply exchanged while the system is running.
The latest electronics and sensor technology was incorporated into the patented system to provide highly accurate dosing for manufacturing facilities. These electronics are compliant with RoHS and WEEE directives.
