IDC UK Team

Our team includes designers, mechanical and electronics engineers, model makers and project managers. For all their diversity and complementary skills, our staff share a common desire to solve problems, take on new challenges and, most importantly, to develop successful products for our clients and their customers.

IDC frequently works with organisations across the globe and has multilingual designers to support this. Spoken languages include Spanish, French, German, Polish and Mandarin.

Brian Gough

Projects Director

With over twenty-five years' experience managing design projects, Brian has a deep understanding of the product development process and design engineering. Brian has delivered a wide range of ‘turn key’ projects for consumer, business machines and medical products manufactured in Europe, India and China.

Nick Chubb

Design Director

An experienced industrial designer with a keen focus on overall design direction, usability and visual brand language - all underpinned by context and effective design research. Nick has a First Class Master's Degree in Product Design and was selected by Develop3D as one of the Top 5 Designers in the UK upon graduation. He has experience leading cutting edge technology start-ups and multinational brands through a wide range of product developments in consumer and medical sectors.

Simon Collings

Director

With a background in design and engineering design for manufacture, Simon has specialised in the design of advanced medical devices, as well as managing the design history and verification planning and testing required for regulatory approval. With a focus on efficient and thorough delivery of user focused solutions, Simon has experience of seeing projects right through to production and commercialisation.

Stephen Knowles

Managing Director

A chartered engineer, with a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Stephen has wide experience of managing and undertaking technical and non-technical projects and has a thorough understanding of all aspects of design and manufacture. Taking an overview role, he acts as a technical resource and internal reviewer to ensure deliverables are met.

As the first British product development consultancy in Shanghai, we offer a first-class team of multi-national industrial designers and engineers focused on delivering results to clients.

Our team is a mixture of Chinese, British and European staff to create a dynamic team with a broad understanding of Chinese and Western cultures, markets, technologies and business practices.

Yifei Dai

Managing Director

Holding a MA in International marketing, Fei has been working in the business consulting industry for over thirteen years. With a strong background of consumer and business research, she has lead research projects for both domestic and international known consumer brands.

Fei has also successfully advised western businesses and consumer brands on how to market and become established in China. In the past 8 years, Fei has been working in the design and creative industry, internationally and in China. She leads IDC's talented multi-discipline team in Shanghai, growing IDC’s business in China.
